Energy Configuration in Portfolio Analytics Manager (PAM)

 | Overview

Energy Configuration is an internal Airoverse application. It is used to configure energy details such as HVAC electricity, HVAC gas, and lighting for central control units (CCU) and zones installed on different floors of the building. 

Once configured it can compute energy consumption. You also can use this application to benchmark consumption data and compare the energy consumption and savings prior to the Airoverse® system installation at the premises.

You can use this feature to:

• Compute the energy consumption of the building based on the area, cost of energy, and the minimum and maximum benchmark maximum load.
• Configure the energy mappings and energy monitoring choices made when installing the equipment (root-level and child-level) per building.
• Add/upload energy consumption mapping and set benchmark. You can view the energy consumption data for all years prior to Airoverse® system installation to view and compare the energy saved.   

Energy Configuration facilitates energy consumption visualizations to be accurate for the buildings.

While energy configuration can be accessed only from the internal portal by the support personnel, the energy visualizations can be accessed by both support personnel and facility managers from the Airoverse for Facilities portal.

| Creating Custom Energy Configuration

Procedure

1. Log onto the internal portal.
2. Click More (…) icon and select Energy Configuration from the dropdown list.

     3. Search and Select / Select a building from the dropdown list.
The Energy Configuration page is displayed.

Field Name	Description
Building Selection
Select Building	Select or search for a building for which you want to configure energy consumption.
Area of the Building (Sq. Feet)	Enter the area of the building.
Benchmarking Data
Cost per kWh	Enter the energy cost per kWh in the selected currency.
Benchmark Min Load (kWh)	The minimum amount of energy consumed by the building along with time.
Benchmark Max Load (kWh)	The maximum amount of energy consumed by the building along with time.
CCU and Zone Bucket List
All CCUs	By default, this option is selected. Click the dropdown list to select individual CCU. If you select a particular CCU, the results are filtered for the selected CCU displaying all the CCU and zone energy meter and derived data.  Based on the selection, the entities are automatically populated in the bucket list.
Search for zones	Use this field to search for a particular zone in the bucket list.
Energy Meter	The energy meters paired at CCU, and zone levels are represented in blue. The consumption data for these are computed using the readings from the meters. Note: An Energy Meter can be used to track the energy usage for both HVAC and lighting and hence are two in count as indicated across their names. Their count decreases when you drag and drop them to the droppable areas indicated in gray on the energy mapping tree. Clicking X automatically puts them back to the bucket list.
BTU Meter
Derived	There could be other equipment & spaces in the building, that are not supported by energy meters. They are represented in green. The consumption data for these are computed using plate data or the transformer data provided. This is a theoretical energy consumption of the equipment. Note: Derived entities can be used to track the energy usage for HVAC electricity, HVAC gas, and lighting consumptions and so they are usually three in count as indicated across the name. Their count decreases when you drag and drop them to the droppable areas indicated in gray on the energy mapping tree. Clicking X automatically puts them back on the bucket list.

An Energy Mapping Tree provides a hierarchical space for associating different elements from CCUs and zones within a building into a tree scope that baselines energy consumption calculation. 

The following three categorizations are provided as a mappable interactive tree:

• HVAC Electricity 
• HVAC Gas 
• Lighting 

There are two levels of droppable area on the floor level for dragging and dropping the mapped CCU/system or zone (see below figure). 

• Droppable area at the same level of the floor (Parent Level): The energy entities dropped here are considered to be physically fixed at floor level. If two or more entities are dragged and dropped in this area, they will need to be aggregated to get energy at this floor. Adding entities to parent level will override all the calculations done at child level. 
• Droppable area below the floor (Child Level): The energy entities dropped here are all considered to be under a given floor level. If two or more entities are dragged and dropped in this area, they will need to be aggregated. This will mainly consist of CCUs and zones with energy data that are all contributing to the accumulated energy reading at the floor. 

 

Note: Depending on which of the floors the CCUs are installed, the floor plan is displayed for that building. For example, if CCU is installed on only the second floor of a building, then only the second floor is displayed on the energy mapping tree.

• Drag and drop the Energy Meter/ BTU Meters/ CCUs/ Zones to the droppable areas as below.

The entities dropped at the floor level are considered as parent level and those below them are children. Adding entities at the parent level overrides the calculations done at the child level.

Dropping more than a meter at the parent/child level will aggregate consumption to get energy value for that particular floor. 

When an energy meter is already available at the child level then its parent-level energy calculation will not consider the child-level energy values.

If the entity name is long, you can hover the mouse over the area and a tooltip appears to show the full name.

If an entity is misplaced the same can be deleted and entities already dropped can be dragged to new position in the droppable area.

• Click the information on the derived entity to configure the plate vale or the transformer value.

Plate data/ Current Transformer data is a predefined energy consumption data for the equipment and its parts, that can be used to compute the energy consumption data for an entity/space that is not supported by an energy meter.

Note: The configuration parameters enabled during the profile configuration during the creation of the site and its zones, are made available in for the plate data and current data configuration in Energy configuration application for the derived entities.

• Configure the required plate data/ current transformer data at the system as below.

• Click update to save the plate and current transformer data configuration.

Changes updated successfully message displays.

Once the configuration details are updated for the entities, then you will see the information  icon in green as below.

• Repeat the above steps to achieve the required energy configuration setup along with the benchmarking data as below.

• Click save to confirm the energy configuration.

Once the energy configuration data is saved, the consumption details for the same can be visualized in the PAM using Custom and other predefined charts.

| Energy Consumption Data and Benchmarking

You can add/upload energy consumption data for the years before Airoverse® system was installed in the building. This feature provides the capability of creating comparison graphs to show the energy consumption and savings during Airoverse® system operation. You can either add energy consumption data for a year from the portal or download the Airoverse® template and add it for multiple years. You can add consumption data manually (up to 52 weeks) and set that year as a benchmark data. By default, the year before Airoverse® system was installed is considered as the benchmark data. 

Procedure

• Click Consumption Data+ from the Energy Configuration page.
  
  
• Enter the year (in YYYY format) for which you want to retrieve the energy consumption data and click . 

     The data is displayed by week count and is categorized as:

• Total (kWh) 
• HVAC Electricity (kWh) 
• HVAC Gas (BTU) 
• Lighting (kWh) 

• Click Edit to make any changes to any or all the fields for which the total is calculated.
  
  Note: Each of the fields including Total must be entered and computed manually. Wrong data will impact visualizations created in Portfolio Analytics Manager.
• Click Save.
  

Notes: None of these values is mandatory. If data is missing for a few weeks, then only the data entered is displayed in the Energy Usage Chart. 

• You can use any previous year’s data and benchmark it to be used by the Energy Usage Chart to show the comparison data. To benchmark the data, hover the mouse near the year until you Set as Benchmark. Click it to benchmark the year.
• Click Download Template to export the data to a spreadsheet to perform a bulk upload for multiple years. You must validate the data first before taking it into consideration. If you do not add the consumption data for a week or a field, it will be considered as zero. 
• Click Upload Data to upload this data.
